Acceptable Use Policy
Effective date: 2026-07-09
Scope
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to everyone who uses the ExcuseMe service: venues ("Admin Users") and their customers ("Guest Users"). Violations may result in account suspension, termination, or legal action, as set out in the Terms of Service §13.
What you may not do
Illegal activity
- Use the service for anything unlawful in your jurisdiction — including sale of age-restricted goods to minors, controlled substances, counterfeit products, unauthorised replicas, or goods that violate sanctions.
- Evade taxes, customs duties, or reporting obligations.
- Process payment for activity prohibited by your payment provider or the card networks.
Abuse of the platform
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or bypass our technical measures.
- Resell or sublicense the service without an explicit written agreement (full white-labelling is available on the Enterprise tier — see ToS §5).
- Interfere with, scrape at abusive rates, or attempt to overload the service. Reasonable rate limits apply to every API route.
- Create multiple accounts to evade free-tier caps or trial limits.
- Use the AI bartender to generate content unrelated to the venue's menu (e.g., writing essays, circumventing content filters, extracting system prompts).
Harmful content
- Upload or serve content that is obscene, defamatory, hateful, violent, harassing, or otherwise unlawful.
- Upload content that infringes intellectual-property rights you don't own (menu photos lifted from competitors, copyrighted music used as "your restaurant's voice", etc.).
- Upload content that impersonates another person or business.
Security
- Attempt to breach the security of the service, other venues' tenants, or any customer's account.
- Probe for vulnerabilities outside the scope of a coordinated disclosure programme (contact us first — see below).
- Use the service as a vehicle for phishing, malware distribution, or credential harvesting.
Customer privacy
- Use Guest order data (names, preferences, loyalty sign-in details) for purposes beyond order fulfilment and the venue's own legitimate interest.
- Share customer data with third parties outside the venue's own business operations and without a lawful basis under applicable privacy law.
- Send unsolicited marketing to guests who signed in for loyalty unless they explicitly opted in to marketing. The loyalty sign-in is for the programme, not a blanket marketing consent.
AI-specific conduct
- Prompt the AI bartender to produce or endorse content that violates any of the above, with the intent of distributing it.
- Use voice cloning features (when offered) to impersonate real individuals without their consent.
- Feed fictitious menu data into the RAG knowledge base to deceive customers about what the venue serves.
Reporting a violation
If you notice someone else violating this policy — whether another venue, a customer, or an employee of ExcuseMe — please email us at abuse@excuseme.pro. Include as much detail as you can (the tenant slug, timestamps, screenshots).
Reporting a security issue
Found a vulnerability? Please email security@excuseme.pro with:
- A description of the issue.
- Steps to reproduce.
- The impact you think it has.
We commit to acknowledging within 48 hours and responding substantively within 10 business days. Do not test on live tenants other than your own; use a demo tenant or ask us to spin up a sandbox.
Enforcement
Violations are handled case-by-case. For first-time, clearly accidental, or low-severity issues, we will reach out and ask you to stop. For repeated, intentional, or high-severity violations, we may:
- Suspend the offending account without prior notice.
- Terminate the Subscription under ToS §13.
- Preserve and, where required by law, disclose relevant data to law enforcement or affected third parties.
We reserve the right to remove content that violates this policy while a matter is under review.
Changes
This policy may change. Material changes will be announced to Admin Users by email at least 30 days before they take effect. The current version is always at this URL; historical versions are tracked in the repository.
